My question is - can I get a VIN of the car when I have only the engine serial number? I bought a car with a replaced engine (B20DTH). I don't know what the mileage is in the second engine. I only have his number. If I could find out VIN, I would know what the real engine mileage can be.

Unfortunately here, on this forum, you cannot obtain a VIN based on your engine's serial number. As far as I know. Not saying to be impossible but never heard about it. Only dealers could have such an ability or Opel itself.
Your actual engine could be a replacement from Opel during warranty period for eligible reasons therefore never had been associated with a VIN, being just a spare part. But then again this should have been fully recorded in Opel's database. They could provide you everything related to said engine.
If replacement was due to an independent autoshop, them only could provide you whatever datas, engine related, they recorded, if any.
If replacement was due to a private person, there are minimal chances to even find out who that person really was.
